With the prevalence of digitisation rampant in the pandemic world, governments have realised the true power of going digital. Not only does digitisation make matters easier for governments to implement but it also makes the government a lot more accessible to the masses, which has been a challenge for decades. In order to establish better governance, the Tripura government has initiated the MyGov Tripura portal – an initiative to offer the people of Tripura a robust portal for citizen engagement.

The platform offered by the government of Tripura will essentially engage people in a more cohesive manner and enable the state government to ensure good governance in the state. A good democracy is where the people are heard and the implementation of the scheme offers a voice to the masses, allowing them to reach out with their issues to the state government a lot more freely.
The implementation of the scheme will even boost further the efforts of the state government towards state-wide digitisation. The website is designed to be user-friendly so that people from all walks of life can access the government authorities and have their feedbacks, suggestions and demands heard.
MyGov Tripura Portal registration and Login
Here is the complete procedure to register for the scheme online
- Visit the official website of the Tripura MyGov Portal
- On the homepage of the website, click on the “Register” tab which is present in the main menu as shown here:
- On this section, the applicant is expected to enter their full name, email ID, Mobile number, date of birth, and click on the “Create New Account” to complete the registration process.
- Finally, the candidate can login to the MyGov Tripura portal using User ID (email ID or Mobile number) and password or login using OTP received on the registered email ID or mobile number.
Launching the program
On the 11th of August 2018, the CM of Tripura launched the scheme at the launch event of the Digital North East 2022 program. The launch event was held in Guwahati. The main aim of the event was to let people know that the state government has plans of integrating a digital platform into its schemes to attain better governance across the state.
With digitisation, the government gets a chance to reach out to most people in an instant. This immediately roots out all avenues for false rumours and aggravating misinformation to be on the rise. Instead, this allows the government to rather listen to the people first hand, and tend to their queries and concerns right away.
For the longest time, democracies have suffered because they have not been true to their very core – the ability to be “of the people, for the people and by the people” simply because they cannot easily know what the people really want.
With this scheme in effect, the people now have a chance to reach out to the government through one platform; a place where they can be sure that their queries will be heard and answered, where they can truly be a part of the government and not merely remain to be governed.
