The Odisha government has launched the e-Manadeya portal to enable the seamless and paperless transfer of honorarium to roughly about 1,34,758 Anganwadi workers and helpers. What are the roles and responsibilities of Anganwadi workers in Odisha under the scheme?
Under the implementation of the scheme, the responsibility of Anganwadi workers are as follows:
- To elicit community support and participation in running the programme seamlessly.
- To follow up on each child roped in under the benefits of the scheme by weighing each child every month, recording the weight of the child graphically on the growth card, use referral cards for referring cases of mothers/children to the sub-centres or PHC units, etc.
- To carry out a quick survey of the entire family when on a visitation.
- To make home visits frequently for thorough education of the parents so as to enable them to plan an effective role in the child’s growth and development.
- To provide health and nutritional education and even counsel new mothers on breastfeeding.
- To organise non-formal pre-school activities in the Anganwadi of children in the age group 3-6 years.
- To assist ANM in the administration of IFA and Vitamin A by keeping a stock of it ready in the centre.
- To share information collected through the surveys with the ANM.
